Job Description

Position Summary:

The Global Logistics Specialist is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the transportation and logistics operations at Worldwise, Inc. Your primary objective is to ensure the efficient movement of goods, materials, and products across global supply chains, while minimizing costs, streamlining processes, and adhering to regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of logistics principles, international trade regulations, and the ability to collaborate with multiple internal and external stakeholders to achieve seamless transportation solutions.

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $60,000 – $75,000 The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.

Essential Functions:

  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of logistics operations, providing regular reports to management. Running, maintaining, and distributing a quarterly tariff report for senior management. Performing a bi-monthly cost analysis of SHINE shipping rates and China-to-Canada LCL shipping rates
  • Freight Management: Select and manage transportation providers, including air, ocean, rail, and road carriers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely and cost-effective movement of goods. Coordinate and monitor domestic and international transportation.
  • Requires collaborating with finance and our insurance providers to validate the risk.
  • Inventory Management: Coordinate with inventory and planning teams to execute stock transfers and distribution of products to meet demand while minimizing excess stock. Work closely with the planning team as it relates to inbound shipments & priorities
  • Risk Management: Mitigate potential risks in logistics operations, such as delays, disruptions, and damages, by implementing contingency plans. Sometimes
  • Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, sales, and distribution, to develop comprehensive logistics strategies that support the organization’s global supply chain objectives. Manage the inbound tracking report by updating the inbound sheets for every delivery point in the US & Canada.
  • Cost Optimization: Continuously analyze transportation costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement strategies to optimize freight spend without compromising service quality. Quoting & cubing out loads for costing & sales team. Approve & track costs associated with all freight expenses.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards related to the transportation and handling of hazardous materials and other goods.

  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities for process improvements, implement best practices, and stay updated on industry trends to enhance the organization’s logistics capabilities. Actively participate in process improvement initiatives and documentation of logistics and distribution processes
  • Customs Compliance: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of international trade regulations, customs requirements, and tariffs to ensure smooth and compliant movement of goods across borders. Works closely with customs brokers. Work with customs house brokers daily to help facilitate clearances & movement of inbound shipments. Providing documentation for clearance & customs requirements in a timely manner to avoid any delay on inbound. Classify, assign, and maintain HTS codes for new products in SAGE 500 ERP system. Work with our customs house brokers to submit binding rulings to US customs as needed.
  • Documentation: Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and other required paperwork. Obtain Certificates of Origin documents to accompany outbound exports
  • Vendor Management: Build and maintain strong operational relationships with transportation vendors, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other transportation intermediaries to enhance service levels and resolve operational issues promptly. Monitor inbound/outbound shipments from our third-party Distribution centers.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage logistics software and technology tools to optimize routes, track shipments in real-time, and improve overall logistics processes. International Inbound container, and air shipment tracking

Education, Experience & Skills Required:

  • Knowledge of global trade regulations, export administration regulations and customs regulations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in supply chain management, logistics, operations, business administration, or a related field.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish, or Chinese preferred
  • Relevant experience at an importer/exporter, international freight forwarding or customs brokerage company.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist and turn.
  • Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
