Development Manager/Experienced Developer - (Remote)

The Role

We are looking for a Development Manager/Project Manager/Developer who will have primary responsibility for designing, creating, maintaining, and improving company data systems and managing development teams. The project manager will also be expected to help out with creating and testing code as needed and to help with hiring developers to fill growing development teams. At present, all development work is remote so you must be willing and able to work in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interfacing with management to understand and support product and system goals.

• This individual will have primary responsibility for providing technical support and oversight of one or more development teams.

• This individual will manage and coordinate all phases of application development projects to meet specified requirements to include planning, system analysis, system design, implementation, integration and testing, deployment and maintenance.

• This individual must consistently demonstrate and oversee the highest standards for development including documenting important code designs and decisions, consistently making use of testing and staging during development, anticipating what could go wrong if invalid input is deployed, and overseeing all code before it is deployed.

Required Experience:

• BS degree or comparable degree in Computer Science or comparable field

• Minimum 5 years of development experience and proficiency with both Python and Golang

• Additional languages: Django, Kafka, Vue

• Competence in Hosted Services: GCP (Google Cloud Platform)

• Competence in Storage Engines Vespa, Bigquery and Postgres

• Competence in: RESTful API's, GRPC, Kubernetes, Git, GitOps, Protobuf, AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine Learning)

• Experience with web-based services and website development

• Experience with API protocols

• Minimum one year of experience in a project management/team management role supervising development team or teams

• Able to design, create, maintain, audit, and improve company data systems to meet specified requirements

• Able to quickly grasps a strong working knowledge of company system architecture and code repositories

• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

• Ability to anticipate problems or blockers and address them in the planning and design phases

Additional Required Skills:

This individual will have strong communication skills so that they are able to interface between management and the remote development teams so that software applications accurately and efficiently achieve business objectives. Required communication skills include video conferencing with development teams and management to demonstrate functionality during meetings.

This individual will be able to oversee the design, planning, and implementation of more than one development project simultaneously.
