General Utility Person- Labor

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the General Utility Person is directly responsible for the inspection and cleaning of rail equipment, the clean-up around conveyor belts and machinery, and performing various tasks throughout the plant. Observes, monitors and reports any conditions that could lead to product non-conformity or other irregularity. Completes equipment pre-shift report on any mobile machinery operated. The General Utility Person has the organizational freedom and authority, as defined by the Plant Production Supervisor to participate in the implementation of safety programs to ensure the safety of employees. The General Utility Person is specifically given the responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product or process, or to the quality system, and to initiate, recommend or provide solutions.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions

• Inspect work areas for safety hazards before beginning work activity

• Perform general plant clean-up

• Occasionally lifts and carries equipment and materials in excess of 100 pounds

• Run sweeper, water truck and track mobile

• Load dust trucks and lime trucks

• Gathers samples and reports non-conformities related to product or process

Job Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED required
• Ability to work shift work
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Passing score on a Entry-level Basic Skills test

Carmeuse offers competitive wage @ $25.55 per hour with an opportunity for overtime. Medical, dental and vision benefits are also provided through the union. Position consists of days, nights and swing shifts.
