Job Description

The General Sales Manager ensures that the dealership meets its new- and used vehicle standards for gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that Sales Consultants are performing the CRM Daily Routines
  • Assist General Manager in determining monthly and yearly forecasts in terms of unit sales, gross profit objectives, and departmental profits.
  • Meet with each salesperson as early as possible every day to review yesterday's results and today's plan of action.
  • Desking of Sales deals and obtaining financing for customers in accordance dealership guidelines.
  • Assist with hiring and training sales people
  • Forecast monthly with each salesperson to establish objectives in terms of the number and type of customers coming into the dealership, closing percentages in each category, time utilization, prospecting efforts, unit sales, and projected income.
  • Perform duties as back up Finance and Insurance Manager duties as needed.
  • Coach sales people on best practices for closing more deals and provide guidance to improve performance.
  • Perform the CRM Daily Management Responsibilities
  • Recommend to the General Manager procedures for short- and long-range advertising, sales promotions, staffing needs, l ease promotions, compensation plans, customer complaints, salespersons' evaluations, and car rentals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. High school diploma or the equivalent. Minimum of two years of automotive sales experience. One year in a dealership management position preferred. Professional personal appearance. Excellent communication skills. Excellent managerial skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The General Sales Manager works both indoors and out, moving about the dealership facility and lot to communicate with the dealer, managers, salespeople, and customers. Weekend, evening, and holiday hours will be required.
