As a leading nurse educator, Arizona College of Nursing offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s in nursing in 3 years or less with qualified transfer credits. Our quality nursing curriculum prepares students for an in-demand career to help communities overcome the chronic, well-known, and increasing nursing shortage. Through the execution of a targeted growth strategy, the college plans to meet the growing demand for nurses by launching campuses in markets where bachelor’s prepared nurses are needed.
- Sets and meets organizational goals that impact student outcomes.
- Develops individualized instruction using a variety of well-designed instructional materials including multimedia presentations and current interactive technologies, focusing primarily on experiential and project-based learning.
- Grades tests and projects, maintains grade books, and tracks attendance. Reports all grades and attendance on time. Performs other administrative duties as needed.
- Participates in student centered activities to promote a sense of community between students and faculty.
- Maintains posted office hours.
- Plans, teaches, and evaluates classroom, labs, and other learning experiences in conjunction with other team members
- Follows established policies and processes in the Faculty Handbook to address student behavior or performance inconsistent with established standards.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to student success.
- Leadership and ethics
- Contributes to other administrative areas to support students, department, and institution such as the Intrusive Advising Program, New Student Orientation, Welcome Week, and collegiate faculty meetings.
- Assists the Dean of General Education (DOGE) or Executive Director of Academic Operations (EDAO) in attracting, developing, and retaining quality faculty and adjuncts.
- Teaches at least 36 credits per fiscal year.
- Administers oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Communication and critical thinking
- Provides ongoing student advisement and academic counseling by tutoring and mentoring students on an individual basis when needed.
- Ensures student engagement and awareness of course objectives through approach and evaluation techniques.
- Identifies students who are "at risk," refers those students to the Dean or Executive Director of Academic Operations (EDAO) and connects those students to resources for their success.
- Demonstrates leadership by serving as a mentor to junior faculty, adjuncts, and students.
- Provides input and participates in academic committees formed for the purpose of enrichment of both the programs and students.
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Communicates clear course objectives and expectations.
- Consistently demonstrates a student-centric mentality, applies, and improves tactics to retain students, and achieves high student satisfaction.
- Consistently demonstrates and encourages students in the development of soft skills
- Empowers students to think critically about coursework and its applications, especially to the profession of Nursing.
- Participates in ongoing conferences, seminars, and training sessions (two (2) education in-services, one (1) distance education in-service, proof of at least two (2) professional development activity annually)
- Maintains a presence on campus and contributes to the campus culture in a positive and meaningful way.
- Responsibility and dependability
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office 365 (or similar software) and videoconferencing software required; experience with Canvas LMS, SMART board, ExamSoft/Examplify (or similar software) preferred.
- Distance Learning/Online teaching experience in addition to on-ground experience is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of prior teaching/training experience in the content field or closely related field, preferably within higher education or in the healthcare field. Graduate Assistant/Teaching Assistant (GA/TA) time in classroom acceptable to meet the teaching qualification.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in English.
- Masters required. Doctorate degree preferred.
- Graduate degree from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) required.
- Minimum of 15 or more credit hours earned directly in assigned subject area required.
