Phoenix College (PC), the first public junior college in Arizona, welcomed its first students on September 13, 1920. Job Summary
If you like to "move it, move it', join Phoenix College to help students “move it” toward better health. This position requires teaching classes in the REC, HES, HCC and/or PED prefixes, as well as serving as the Occupational Program Director for the Health & Wellness program. Additionally, the department plans to expand the offerings taught by this residential faculty (and additional adjuncts) to include Exercise Science.
The faculty member will recruit, instruct and advise students; assist in the coordination of Health and Wellness Programs; represent PC on the program’s Instructional Council (IC) and other committees; develop new EXS curriculum; support, hire, train and evaluate adjunct faculty in the REC, HCC, HES, and PED/EXS prefixes. This position will work closely with Athletics regarding facility sharing, class schedule, and recruitment.
Essential Functions
Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and/or lab setting
Delivers instruction using strategies designed for a variety of learning styles
Continually develops the Health/Wellness and Exercise Science programs to meet current trends within the profession
Provides leadership and classroom support to adjunct faculty regarding the classes they teach, their syllabus and materials, the use of Canvas, etc.
Provides assistance to the Department Chair regarding the hiring, supervising, training and evaluating of adjunct faculty, staff and temporary employees
Establishes and promotes the Exercise Science program through teaching key classes, presenting our programs to all interested parties, running special recruiting events and collaborates with college Marketing
Provides campus representation on district Instructional Committee (IC) and other committees
Participates in divisional meetings and sub-committees. Works with internal and external stakeholders to revise curriculum and develop new curriculum

Minimum Qualifications
Master's Degree or higher in one of the following fields:
Exercise Science, Sport Science, Athletic Training Sports Medicine, Exercise Physiology, Clinical Exercise Physiology., Clinical Exercise Science, Motor learning and Development, Exercise and Wellness, Fitness and Wellness, Health Science., Recreation, Recreation Management, Physical Education, Leisure Studies, Kinesiology, Human Movement, Movement Science, Human Performance, Health Promotion, Health Education, Sports Management Administration, Sports Science and Performance Programming, Healthcare Management, Physical Therapy, Biomechanics, Strength and Conditioning, Public Health
OR

2. Higher education classroom teaching experience in the Health Wellness / Physical Education/ Exercise science area
3. Higher education course curriculum development in the Health Wellness / Physical Education/Exercise Science area
4. Demonstrated experience incorporating a variety of active teaching and learning techniques designed to create an authentic learning environment and foster knowledge transfer
5. Demonstrated experience engaging students through the use of multimedia tools for teaching in synchronous and asynchronous online learning, and/or hybrid formats
6. Demonstrated service engagement in collaborative efforts such as department initiatives, college and/or district committees, campus programs, student clubs, high school outreach, and/ or community partnerships
7. Demonstrated experience with program leadership
