About The Role
Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain gene therapy experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to AAV design, validation, and research. The gene therapy team is a dynamic group that can provide hands-on experience in a rapidly expanding field.

Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)

• Completing a specified and structured project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
• Enhancing skillset in communication, time management and organizational/interpersonal skills
• Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
• Accurate documentation of protocols with clear presented written summaries in addition to frequent verbal data summaries
• Experience with in vitro and ex vivo techniques associated with validation of AAV expression and function.
• Interaction with project team to gain exposure to the steps of gene therapy development and validation.
• Supporting a range of activities associated with viral design and validation.

Requirements

• Ability to think creatively and be a team player
• Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
• Familiarity with tissue culture, brain histology, neuroscience is desirable
• Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics
• Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
• Prior experience in cell biology or molecular biology would be desired.
• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest in biotechnology
• Specific degree or field required: biology-related, including pre-dental and pre-medical fields
• Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Good verbal and written communication skills
