Job Description
Job Title: Front Desk Receptionist
Key Responsibilities:
1. Greeting and Check-In: Welcome patients and visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor. Ensure patients complete necessary forms and update patient information accurately in the practice management system. Verify insurance information and collect copayments.
2. Appointment Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments efficiently, taking into account the availability of dermatologists and specific procedures. Coordinate with other staff members to ensure smooth patient flow and minimize wait times.
3. Phone and Email Communication: Answer incoming phone calls promptly and direct them to the appropriate staff member. Respond to patient inquiries, requests for information, and appointment inquiries via phone and email. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions.
4. Patient Records Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including demographic information, medical history, and insurance details. Ensure compliance with patient confidentiality regulations (HIPAA).
5. Billing and Insurance: Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries, including verifying coverage, explaining benefits, and resolving billing discrepancies. Coordinate with billing department to ensure accurate coding and billing for services rendered.
6. Office Support: Provide administrative support to the dermatologists and other staff members as needed. This may include managing incoming and outgoing mail, ordering office supplies, and maintaining a clean and organized front desk area.
7. Patient Education: Provide patients with basic information about dermatology treatments, procedures, and skincare products. Direct more complex inquiries to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
8. Appointment Reminders: Contact patients to provide appointment reminders and follow-up instructions as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred).
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role is an advantage.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures related to dermatology is a plus.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and remain calm under pressure.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and respects privacy regulations (HIPAA).
