The job:

We are looking for a growth-oriented, positive-minded, talented and motivated data scientist to join our founding team. You will report directly into our Co-founder and CTO.

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with customers to understand their needs and own end-to-end implementation of solutions in collaboration with engineering
• Design, prototype and implement: meta-models to predict LLM performance, optimization algorithms to select the best LLM, and monitoring systems for LLM inputs and outputs
• Work directly with the CEO and CTO as a thought partner
• Build a work culture that makes you energized on a daily basis
• Design and develop innovative systems for evaluation and benchmarking of LLM performance around response quality, cost and latency

Qualifications

• Experience evaluating machine learning models for NLP applications
• A force of nature, you sprint towards goals, you get the job done
• 3-5 years professional experience in software development / data science
• Excellent programming skills in Python
• Eager to get your hands dirty and build, measure, learn and build again on repeat
• Collaborative and able to communicate clearly, honestly and vulnerably
• Familiar with the latest embedding models, transformer architectures, reinforcement learning, advances in training techniques, and multi-dimensional evaluation of generated text
• Practical experience training/tuning LLMs with pytorch or other frameworks (plus for use of data or model parallelism)
• Always looking for feedback and have a growth mindset
• Comfortable in an environment of extreme uncertainty
• Experience working in large distributed systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Able to see the 20% of effort that delivers 80% of the results / value
• Eager to learn new technologies and frameworks to leverage the cutting edge tech stack we’re building
• Excited to build a company with a big vision for the future of NLP
• Experience with the Hugging Face Transformers library
