The Protein Market Manager is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, and growth in the Alternative Protein market segment within our Food and Beverage business. The Market Manager identifies target applications within this high growth space and works with Product Management and Regional Marketing to define the recommended Pall products, marketing plan, positioning, training and sales tools. Additionally, the Market Manager should understand the customer needs and requirements and continually analyze trends to identify new opportunities for profitable growth.


This position is part of the Food & Beverage Business Unit and will be located remote.


With population growth, an increase in health-conscious consumers and more focus on circular processing, food companies are increasing investment in animal-free, alternative proteins. Pall’s goal is to enable these customers to sustainably produce high quality, functional proteins through Upcycling, Precision Fermentation and Cell Cultivation with our food and beverage application experience and broad portfolio of innovative products.


In this role, you will have the opportunity to:


  • Gain customer insight through research and voice of customer to provide input on product specifications and application requirements and help identify beta test sites to ensure development of the right products.
  • Use understanding of market trends and competitive situation to identify target applications, positioning and new business opportunities for profitable growth in the protein segment, acting as a key contributor to marketing and strategic plans.
  • Work with regional marketing, product managers and business developers to build market specific positioning, promotion, sales tools and training to execute successful product launches and achievement of revenue targets.
  • Present at key customers and market specific conferences and summits to build visibility and drive lead generation within the alternative protein segment.
  • Acts as liaison across regions and functions to ensure sharing of information and successes for strategic and key accounts.


The essential requirements of the job include:


  • Able to develop and implement a marketing strategy as typically acquired through 3 to 5 years or more in food/bioprocessing technology sales and marketing or experience working at a food and ingredient
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, Bioprocessing or Engineering.

Main role / Job Objective:


The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, reviewing and maintaining software, and overall system architecture, as well as mentoring associates, providing technical feedback and sharing knowledge.


Main responsibilities and key activities:


  • Ownership to develop plan and deliver components/modules to meet schedule and quality expectation of product owner
  • Mentor junior software engineers on their technical development
  • Analyze, debug and solve complex technical issues and customer escalations
  • Break down high-level objectives into specific software development tasks and follow through on their execution
  • Stay current on software technology, concepts and tools, as well as related and competing products
  • Ownership of key technology and solution delivery for modules/components of the product
  • Institutionalize industry standard software engineering processes, practices and methodologies
  • Create feasibility analysis and provide accurate effort estimates and status updates, and produce high quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Aid in recruitment, assimilating necessary technical knowledge and building team to meet organizational goals
  • Design overall system architecture, database schema and user interface
  • Write code that is easy to understand and fits with existing patterns
  • Help with creating, implementing, executing and guarding optimized processes, policies and procedures
  • Help with gathering requirements, writing functional specification, and creating and reviewing user stories and technical specifications
  • Implement unit testing, integration testing, deployment approach, and maintain programming documentation which include commenting code and user guides
  • Communicate and interact effectively with customers, product management, QA, documentation, training, deployment, support and other departments within Esko
  • Conduct peer code reviews and perform unit and integration testing


Qualifications and professional knowledge:


  • Flexibility and willingness to work in different stacks of technology is desirable. Being technology agnostic is an added plus
  • Experience and desire to work in a global delivery environment
  • Good understanding of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX
  • Hands on experience in designing and developing web solutions with J2EE and good hands-on skills with technologies like EJB, Servlets, JSP, JavaScript, React, JDBC.
  • Experience in deploying applications in Web Servers & Application Servers like Apache Tomcat, JBoss,
  • 3-6 years of relevant work experience in Software Development with at least 3years experience in full-stack Development
  • Must be familiar with Web Application Architecture, design patterns like MVC and capable of making design decisions considering performance and scalability of the application.
  • Proficiency with agile software development tools like JIRA, Pivotal tracker etc.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, APIs and tools
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around such issues
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including ability to understand advanced technical documentation
  • Strong knowledge of object oriented (OOPS) concepts and design patterns
  • Engineering degree in Computer Science

  • Good analytical skills and self-initiative to learn new technologies
  • Hands on experience in databases like SQL Server or Oracle. Strong knowledge of database design and efficient SQL statements
