Our flavor creation and application team is the foundation and creative force of our Taste and Wellbeing division. They develop ingredients and creative food product concepts, evaluate new flavor profiles and delivery technologies, and most importantly, assist our Account Managers in winning new business using the combination of art and science, intimately bound with human psychologies and cultures.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, and being on-site and located in East Hanover, New Jersey, your primary focus will be to work on projects related to ingredient development up to the industrial transfer stage. This innovation team focuses on actives for Nutraceutical, preservation and flavoring extracts. Your role will be the technical expert, and advisor, to marketing, sales, application, and customers for specific assigned projects.

• Customer Experience: Formulate new botanical extracts or modify existing ones to meet customer requirements and to support Quality Improvement programs. Remain current on latest technologies by engaging in literature searches, and attending technical meetings, industry conferences, and training classes. Stay up to date on latest research and customer wins.

• Project Management: Assess the feasibility of projects. Manage Ideation (Browsing our portfolio, literature research, internal discussions). Design and Implement test protocols for the technical aspects. Analyze and interpret data with the ability to implement results and provide next steps recommendations. Maintain all required reports, brief documentation, and formula records in company database software. Write up product specifications. Coordinate the projects including the communication of updates with project partners. Help design and perform stability studies and other research projects. Manage code creation, product specifications, and other related technical documents

• Team Collaboration: Partner to source raw materials and to guarantee a safe and legal product design, with other departments: Sourcing, Quality, Regulatory, and EHS. Maintain a clean and orderly lab environment. Provide technical support and expertise to production, supply chain, marketing, and other departments. Coach, train, and motivate technologists. Gain trust and respect of project partners and team members.

You?

• Project management skills with the experience to lead selected customer projects
• Root Cause analysis and problem-solving techniques
• B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology
• Have technical skills in area of specialty (Botanical extracts, Food Ingredients)
• 5+ years experience in an R&D or food applications lab, or related area
• Experience presenting information to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Desire to instruct technicians and technologists
