Agency Overview:

The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives.


Under the direction of Agency Secretary Jason Weida, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation. Current Agency initiatives include implementing Florida’s groundbreaking Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida’s healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the cost of health care services.

Position Overview:

This position may require extensive travel, including significant overnight travel. Successful completion of a criminal background investigation is a condition of employment.

This position is individually responsible to provide life safety inspection expertise for the licensure and certification of health care facilities.

Requirements may include performing these duties as a team leader, team member or individually as assigned.

The incumbent will perform on-site surveys, document findings, and prepare reports.

The incumbent will provide independent specialized work on all aspects of fire safety, fire prevention and other areas of life safety.

Responsibilities also include understanding and enforcement of national, state, and local fire safety NFPA codes and laws.

The incumbent may also be required to conduct surveys of other types of licensed providers, as assigned by management.

The incumbent must be proficient with computer equipment and software programs, such as Microsoft Word and Outlook, as well as smart phone technology.

The incumbent must also be available to work before and after normal work hours including weekends and holidays.

  • This position will only hire at bi-weekly salary $1,702.29 non-negotiable.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of the methods, techniques, and equipment used in fire prevention.
  • Ability to conduct fire inspections of properties for fire safety and prevention.
  • Knowledge of construction standards.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to fire prevention.
  • Skill in the use of computer equipment and software to enter, retrieve and manipulate data required to perform work functions.
  • Ability to evaluate data and make recommendations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to prepare reports.
  • Ability to lift a laptop/ tablet computer, work manuals, and ladders with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to climb ladders to inspect smoke / fire walls and roofs/ roof mounted equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

- FEDERAL REQUIREMENT: Applicant must possess National Fire Protection Association Fire Inspector I Certification (CFI1) AND Florida Fire Inspector I Certification; AND


- Two years professional or paraprofessional experience in fire prevention, fire protection systems installations, or other construction inspection related experience.


  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred and can substitute for one year of professional or paraprofessional experience in fire prevention, fire protection systems installations, or other construction inspection related experience.

-NOTE: Pro Board certification will not meet the requirement for a NFPA Certified Fire Inspector 1 (CFI-1)

certification certificate.


LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Fire Inspector’s Certification as required by section 633.081, Florida Statues.
