Fire Life Safety Officer

In this role, you will be a OSHPD Designated Campus Fire Marshal who will develop, implement, and monitor environmental and safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations; and ensure a safe workplace. May include industrial hygiene, ergonomics, occupational safety, environmental health, pest control, laboratory safety, hazardous materials control, hazardous waste management, emergency services and preparedness, fire safety, radiological safety, environmental protection including air, water and soil quality, and other EH&S programs and policies; or provide technical support for these programs. Additionally, you will be expected to travel throughout various UCLA Health locations as needed. Responsibilities include: * Acquire specialized training on California Building Standards -Title 24 and, including but not limited to health care facilities codes such as NFPA 99, NFPA 101 and NFPA 25 * Inspect/investigate incidents and complaints, and recommend corrective action as needed * Draft reports and other documentation, including use of relevant scientific data * Design new and/or recommend improvements to existing processes and procedures related to health care facilities fire and life safety * Perform technical work related to field(s) of expertise * Maintain fire safety knowledge/expertise on existing/proposed changes in all regulations; interpret and apply relevant laws, regulations, codes and standards; including making recommendations for work environment changes based on interpretations and principles of professional practices Salary range: $60700.00-$151100.00 Annual

Required: * 2 years of experience performing plan review and technical inspections or supervision of general contruction projects for fire and life safety compliance in a public or private fire prevention agency * Bachelor's degree in fire administration and technology, engineering, chemistry, physics, architecture or related area * Valid California Class C Driver's License * Demonstrated experience preforming full-time review and/or technical inspection of general construction projects for fire and life safety compliance in public or private fire prevention * Thorough knowledge/understanding of Health Facilities Construction including related laws and regulations; and general knowledge/understanding of related construction * Thorough knowledge and skill in applying and interpreting applicable local, state, and federal regulations and related standards and guidelines related to construction building codes, analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints * Thorough written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen and skill to communicate effectively in a diverse environment * Strong skills to appropriately use technology and relevant scientific equipment as required * Strong analytical and organizational skills to organize, prioritize and manage the successful completion of projects within time and budget constraints Preferred: * Professional certification
