Finance Controller

Remote (Must be able to work CST)

Salary $90,000-$120,000 + Bonus

Job Purpose:

The Financial Controller provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure the responsible accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.



Key responsibilities:

Management

  • Provide appropriate training to the finance team.
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains internal control guidelines, policies, and procedures for accounting, budgeting, cash management, and timely reporting.
  • Manage outsourced functions and lead internal finance and audit team (offshore).
  • Manage the departmental budgets, review appropriation requests against approved budgets for the availability of funds before commitment, and oversee control to ensure that budgeted expenditures do not exceed amounts authorized.
  • Provide financial advice to senior executives on issues of major significance that may impact current and future business and the Company's profitability and reputation. Direct the preparation of financial statement statistics, including charts and graphs depicting progress, conditions, and results, and related reports and recommendations.
  • Interpret operating results as they affect the financial aspects of the business and recommend measures to reduce costs and increase profits. Implement financial improvements to increase the organization's effectiveness and contribute to customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the department’s operations, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.


Transactions

  • AP, AR, Payroll using Paychex.
  • External Audit, tax filing states & federal
  • Invoice Factoring reconciliation
  • Tax & other regulatory compliance – Payroll & corporate
  • Payroll processing & reconciliation
  • Issuing of COIs (certificates of insurance)
  • Reviewing and ensuring appropriate accounting policies in line with changing accounting standards using GAAP
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions, GL reconciliation
  • Treasury


Reporting

  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and timely on a weekly and bi-weekly basis
  • Ensure that required disbursements are made timely
  • Weekly reporting of cash position, including disbursements
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Ensure timely reporting of monthly financial statements
  • Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of employee and company operations
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management


Compliance

  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinate the provision of information to auditors for the annual audit and other ad hoc audits

Qualifications:

· Bachelor of Accounting, Finance, or Business required

· CPA desired but not required

· NAVISION experience desired

· Staffing Industry & Healthcare experience desired

· Strong leadership skills required

The Financial Controller candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent business experience and 8+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Background and experience in the staffing and healthcare industry are strongly desired.
