Job Description

The Financial Analyst 2 reports to the Director of Research Administration for the Department of Radiology and is responsible for assisting with financial analysis to support decision making. This position requires the ability to execute work accurately and independently and to function effectively under the stress of competing priorities.
Assignments are often given on a project basis and the incumbent is expected to gather and sort information from multiple sources, and to present the finished product in a clear and concise manner. In addition, it is often the responsibility of the incumbent to apply certain knowledge and/or training to identify issues and solve problems.
The Financial Analyst 2 is expected to demonstrate professionalism, diplomacy, and exercise good judgement within defined procedures and practices, and apply organizational policies and procedures to resolve various issues. This person works on problems of limited to moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

The Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco is one of the largest departments in the School of Medicine. The Department of Radiology provides service for UCSF’s four integrated facilities: Moffitt/Long Hospitals, San Francisco General Hospital, Veteran’s Administration Medical Center, Mt. Zion Hospital, China Basin, and the Mission Bay Hospital. The department has 32 sections and research units, and has over 200 salaried faculty and non-faculty academics. There are also approximately 300 WOS clinical faculty.

Required Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to gather reasonably retrievable information to organize, and perform basic financial analysis assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills at all levels within the unit; excellent service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability using spreadsheet and database software for moderately complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
