Finance Controller [Hybrid] Jobs

Scope of Position

The Finance Controller will report to the Chief Financial Officer and will lead Accounting, Treasury, and FP&A. This person will be responsible for critical decisions to protect the financial health of the company.

The successful candidate will have experience as a controller is any energy or manufacturing industries. Atlantic Shores is looking for a candidate who has mastery of best practices for energy accounting and financial planning. Team building (recruitment, management and talent development) will also be a key component of the role.

We view this as a critical business leadership position, who will collaborate deeply with the other departments of the joint venture as well as Shareholders Finance teams, to not only maintain and continuously advance a high level of service, but to leverage accounting, financial controls and analysis, and treasury to drive the business forward in all departments and functions.

Responsibilities

Accountabilities

• Oversee the annual budgeting process in coordination with JV Strategy Mgr.
• Attract and manage top talent; supervise, develop, and mentor members of your team.
• Strong systems and process orientation, with willingness to leverage technology to solve problems and effect improvements.
• Ability and willingness to translate complex financial concepts as part of collaboration with other members of the JV.
• Maintain the company’s system of accounts and ensure all transactions and assets are properly accounted for in the company’s books and records. Ensure financial records and reporting is in compliance with legal requirements and both IFRS and GAAP standards. Ensure compliance of complex accounting matters associated to Project Financing, Tax Equity and other PTC/ITC related issues.
• Custodian of the company’s Control Framework and financial policies, including assurance activities. Liaise with company’s external auditor.
• Deliver data, insight and recommendations to help the organization improve project level financial performance.
• Assure corporate income tax and other tax compliance and the accurate and timely completion of all corporate tax returns.
• Deliver financial analysis that is timely, meaningful, and drives business improvements. This includes financial report to the Board of Directors and JV shareholder teams
• Support management and business leaders in balance sheet management, capital planning, forecasting, and scenario planning.
• Foster a growth mindset and culture of continuous improvement throughout your department and lead a team that identifies and implements improvements to systems, processes, and practices.
• In collaboration with CFO, develops the capital plan for the business. Oversee cash management,
• Establish and maintain systems and controls to ensure the integrity of all systems, processes and data relating to the company’s financial performance.

Interfaces

• Liaising with a range of external stakeholders such company’s external auditor, ERP and Finance advisors, Tax and Legal advisors, and others.
• Close cooperation with Project Financing Team and other finance functional teams, including EDFR/Shell Finance teams.
• Key to success in this role is the ability to build relationships and in particular to work effectively with Legal, Project Services and C&P.
• Leadership role that is close coordination across all JV teams. Strong interface with other members of the Leadership Team.

Other Duties As Assigned

Supervision of Others:

FP&A, Treasury and Accounting Teams. Nowadays direct oversight of a team of 4 people, that will continue to grow.

Qualifications

• Experience in financial planning and treasury management
• Bachelors or master’s degree in accounting and/or finance and active Certified Public Accountant license.
• At least three years of experience in a supervisory role.
• 10-years of accounting experience. 5-years’ experience in a controller or similar accounting leadership role.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

• Deep knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP and other accounting practices and pronouncements relevant to energy and renewable energy.

• Experience building out and professionalizing a company’s finance function, including a demonstrated ability to gain consensus for and implement change.
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 360 or integrated ERP systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey advice in a succinct and actionable format
• Refined business acumen and the ability to identify and implement practical solutions to complex business and accounting problems. Experience within the power or renewable energy sectors or any other manufacturing industry preferred.

Pay Range: $144,525 to $240,875 annually

Physical Requirements

Flexible, combining 2-3 days at the office and virtual work.

Working Conditions

80% of time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of various Microsoft software/programs), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 20% of the time may be spent in offsite workshops or visiting other Atlantic Shores or parent offices, or training.
