We Require
  • Valid Arizona driver's license upon hire
  • Valid, unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing
  • CPR and First Aid Certification upon hire
We Also Value
  • Two or more years of clinical experience with an emphasis on chronic care or treatment of communicable diseases
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish
Job Contributions
  • Provide basic health education and counseling
  • Obtain patient health history and perform examinations
  • Prepare client assessments and client plans in a clear, logical manner
  • Document subjective and objective findings in a complete and organized manner
  • Assess patient needs and establish a working diagnosis
  • Prescribe and dispense medication
  • Coordinate medical resources to meet patient needs
  • Order imaging and laboratory tests
  • Determine and perform appropriate medical procedures as indicated by diagnosis
Working Conditions
  • Work is performed in a clinical and field setting
  • Mileage reimbursement is available subject to County policies regarding the use of private vehicles on County business
  • In the field, the Nurse Practitioner will meet patients who have barriers to getting to the clinic but are positive for syphilis, are pregnant, and require treatment
  • Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
  • Ability to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
