Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Intro/Program Description: Goddard Riverside Community Center operates early childhood centers for working families and their children aged 2 to 5. Each center facilitates classroom activities that promote intellectual, social, emotional, and physical growth through the hands-on exploration of science, nature and art.
Purpose of Position: The role of the Family Advocate Enrollment Specialist is to lead the Division in actively recruiting with the goal of maintaining 100% of enrollment capacity and ensure 95% daily average attendance. The Family Advocate will work with the ECE team to ensure families have access to resources that meet their individual needs. With a focus on developing a culture of community and social capital, the Advocate will engage families in activities that enhance outcomes for children and families.
Schedule: 7.5 hours per day. Program operates between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm so hours may vary.
Salary Range: $47,000 to $52,500
- Support collection and maintenance health and immunization records
- Develop and conduct parent workshops
- Recruitment, intake and enrollment, eligibility and attendance monitoring
- Maintain waiting list and classroom rosters
- Develop partnerships with outside agencies that can provide assistance to our families
- Identify resources, initiate referrals and interventions
- Develop an Individualized Family Partnership Agreement (IFPA) with each family
- Support Center Director in developing transition plans to work with families
- In collaboration with classroom teams, facilitate monthly class meetings
- Support families with the navigating the CPSE process
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- National Family Child Care Credential (or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire)
- Experience providing services to children and families in diverse communities
- Must pass all funder required background checks
- Knowledge of working with children and families through a multi-generational approach
- High School Diploma minimum, some college preferred
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of best practices in delivery quality early care and education with family engagement
Physical Requirements
- Typical lifting, bending, walking, climbing stairs as needed in a preschool environment
- Medical clearance to perform job without limitations
Work Environment
- Office environment
- Community fairs, tabling, gatherings for participant recruitment
- Home visits as needed
This position is classified as a union position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Day Care Council of New York ("DCCNY") and Local 205, Community and Social Agency Employees Union, District Council 1707, A.F.S.C.M.E., A.F.L.C.I.O. ("Local 205"),. The union represents employees in the bargaining unit (i.e. Goddard employees in Local 205 union positions). The Collective Bargaining Agreement is a written contract that defines the agreed-upon terms and conditions of employment, including wage increases, paid time off and other benefits, and the grievance process. All employees in Local 205 union positions at Goddard Riverside are subject to and covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Membership in the union includes the collection of union dues on a monthly basis, to be deducted from the member’s Goddard paycheck at a rate to be determined by the union.
