The mission of Mental Health Advocates (MHA) is to promote mental health and wellness in the community and support individuals and families who are living with mental illness. The Youth Peer Advocate Program Manager maintains a mission-driven approach in their work to assist the Program Director with accomplishing departmental goals.
Essential Functions:
The Youth Peer Advocate Program Manager must meet the Youth Peer Advocate requirements for the YPA Provisional Credential through Together in NYS including lived-experience requirements, letters of recommendation, and Code of Ethics.
- Assist with grant applications.
- Attend PX21 and MEB monthly meetings.
- Assist with data reporting for grant reports and RFPs.
- Serve as liaison with school personnel.
- Serve as on-call supervisor for YPA text/chat line.
- Monitor YPA email, phone voicemails, and mail correspondence.
- Monitor and update Event Tracker online form for new school programming requests.
- Represent Youth Programs department at outreach events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist in facilitating YPA team meetings in Director of Youth Programs absence.
- Assist with day-to-day operations of Youth Programs department.
- Coordinate and assist in assigning 1:1 youth peer services to YPAs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Effective relationship-building, interpersonal, and coaching skills.
- At least two years of experience in a leadership role.
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity and supportive approach to the needs of others.
- Flexibility with schedule to include evening hours and weekends.
- Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality and HIPAA compliance. Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills in a Microsoft office environment.
- Sound, independent decision-making ability.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Credentials
- Credentialed professional preferred (MSW, LMHC, and/or Youth/Adult Peer)
- Bachelor’s degree in a human services-related field (or higher) required.
