The role of the family advocate and educational support worker, known as a “Family Coach,” is to deliver services to youths and their families and to participate in research evaluation.

The Family Coach will:

  • Provide education-targeted support to youth and families during the transition to permanency. This includes: increasing academic engagement through developing homework routines, academic self-monitoring strategies, and organizational skills promoting school connectedness by implementing Check & Connect, assisting with IEP/504’s, exploring post-secondary work and educational opportunities, and encouraging youth community involvement.
  • Serve as an advocate and guide for the student and caregivers, a liaison between the home and school, and a resource for educators and school professionals as an expert in working with systems-involved youth.
  • Recruit and enroll eligible referrals for participation in the FES program.
  • Be responsible professionals who take accountability for their work through asking questions, accepting feedback, and a demonstrated commitment to growth and development.
  • Ensure all required FES documentation (to include assessments, data collection, weekly supervision reports, and incident reports) is completed and filed accurately and on time.
