The Future Now umbrella includes The States Project (TSP) and The Lawmaker Network (TLN). Its initiatives focus on improving Americans’ lives by winning state legislative majorities and working with them to achieve goals for the common good.

Location: Remote, with no expected travel.


Compensation: $22 per hour worked, with no more than 20 hours per week

Come join The States Project and help save our democracy. We are looking for exceptional people with a variety of academic backgrounds from colleges to join us as 2023 Fall Interns.

What You Will Do:


As an intern with The States Project, you will gain valuable educational experience in politics and policy at the state legislative level, and further your specialized skill sets.


The States Project seeks to provide a well-rounded experience for interns where you will develop your soft and hard skills. You will be provided with opportunities to make connections with past cohorts and partners to support the development of your career.

What You Can Expect During the Recruitment and Hiring Process:


Selected applicants will be moved forward to phone screening. The next step is a written exercise, followed by a final interview with potential team colleagues.


Applications must be submitted by Friday August 11, 2023. To be considered a complete application, one must include a resume and have answered the five Pre-Application questions below. The latter must include why you are interested in working at The States Project. Incomplete applications will not be considered.


What we offer:


Interns are paid $22 per hour worked, and accrue paid time off in accordance with our employee handbook and applicable state and local laws. We will work with you to help you obtain school credit where applicable. All internship opportunities will be remote. Interns are expected to commit up to 20 hours per week (generally during standard U.S. business hours) from Monday, September 18, 2023 through Friday December 8, 2023.
