This Faculty member teaches teaches American and/or World History and Social Environment courses. This is a full-time Faculty (FAC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees.

• Performs other duties as assigned
• Participates in a variety of departmental, campus and college-wide programs, activities and committees
• Participates in curriculum development and revision that stress innovation and multi-cultural emphasis
• Prepares and submits student information to Department Chairperson
• Participates in departmental recruiting and retention activities
• Serves as a resource person for adjunct faculty
• Teaches lecture and laboratory sections
• Teaches day, evening and weekend classes as needed
• Evaluates students and performs career and academic advising
• Plans and organizes instructional materials to meet course objectives

• Demonstrated effective use of active learning techniques
• Ability to work well with students, faculty, staff and the community
• Start date for this Faculty position is anticipated to be on or before Fall Semester 2023
• Previous curriculum development and recruitment experience a plus
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with and use of collaborative learning techniques and student-centered methods of instruction
• All educational degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
• Master's Degree in History; or a Master's Degree and 18 graduate credit hours in History
• Ability to function well in a technological environment and willing to use technological tools in instruction
• Possess excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with students with a wide range of skills
• Ability to work in a multi-ethnic/multi-cultural environment
• Doctoral Stipend awarded in addition to base salary, as applicable

• Preference will be given to applicants with College level teaching experience.
