The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking Part-time Instructor to teach a 3-credit section of Advanced Hindi (HIN 410/610) in the spring 2023 semester, which begins on January 17, 2023 (appointment begins on January 10, 2023). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Advanced Hindi (HIN 410/610)
Extensive readings, composition exercises, listening skills and review of Hindi grammar. Designed to bridge the gap between student’s theoretical knowledge of grammatical rules and Hindi-Urdu stylistic variation & usage. Additional work required for graduate students. Activities are conducted in Hindi/Urdu.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree required; native or near-native fluency required. Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignment may include:
  • Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
