Position Title: Faculty, General Dentistry

Department: Daemen University Shatkin College of Dentistry (DUSCD)

Overview: General Dentistry faculty are responsible for teaching didactic, preclinical and/or clinical courses to students in Daemen University's Shatkin College of Dentistry DDS program. Faculty are expected to support the DUSCD mission and foster student achievement of course and program outcomes, ensure competency standards are met, and uphold DUSCD's commitment to excellence in dental education and clinical practice. Faculty report directly to the DUSCD Dean and the Clinic Director, and will work in close cooperation with the Dean to support the school's programs and initiatives.

In addition to assigned teaching duties, the General Dentistry faculty responsibilities include:

• Ensuring competency standards are met and that teaching and assessment are consistent with DUSCD's teaching philosophy, methodologies, and are rooted in evidence-based dentistry
• Fostering student achievement of course and program outcomes
• Participating in emergency call and dental screenings
• Contributing to the advancement of DUSCD's mission and vision through committee work, professional membership, excellence in teaching, research, and/or scholarly publications
• Collaborating with dental faculty and administrators in the on-going development of instructional materials
• Participating in professional development and demonstrate a willingness to learn or apply skills to foster student achievement and excellence
• Supervising preclinical exercises
• Supervising students performing clinical procedures
• Providing academic advisement and/or research mentorship
• Implementing pedagogy and methodologies that align with DUSCD's teaching philosophy and that are rooted in evidence-based practice
• Attending calibration sessions, EHR training and professional development
• Collecting, maintaining and reporting assessment data to the Dean
• Remaining current in evidence-based practices, theory and research

Full and part-time General Dentistry faculty positions are available. This is a 12 month faculty position with teaching assignments throughout all semesters of the academic year: Summer (June-August), Fall (September - December), and Spring (January - May).

Full-time general dentistry faculty may be considered for a tenure-track position, eligible for standard promotion and tenure according to the University P&T guidelines. Rank commensurate with experience.

All prospective hires will be subject to a background check and will be required to submit documentation of degree completion and professional licensure.

Qualifications: Required: DDS or DMD from CODA-accredited university program.

Preferred: Current NYS practice licensure, NYS license eligibility, or the ability to meet the requirements for a restricted dental license. Minimum of 3 years private practice and/or university-level teaching experience. AEGD, GPR, or specialty training.
