Job Locations: US-NC-WARSAW Your Opportunity:
As part of our Hog Production team, the Executive Director of Support Operations would analyze data, draft implementation plans for production process optimization. Seeking out ways to maximize efficiencies by eliminating the waste of valuable resources that directly impact our overall operating costs.

The Executive Director of Support Operations (Hog Production) is responsible for leading the planning, development and deployment of industry best practices in our Bakery Ingredients, Domestic Marketing and Transportation Operations.

This role will be a key member of the Smithfield Hog Production Leadership Team, where they will be part of creating and articulating the strategic vision and direction for the Bakery Ingredients, Domestic Marketing and Transportation organization. This role will build, develop, and manage a leadership team capable of carrying out operational strategies and executional excellence.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $333,000 Core Responsibilities:
Direction Setting and Planning
  • Oversees, implements, monitors performance, and leads support operation methodology and execution across the organization improving overall productivity.
  • Works closely with Operations Leadership and Production Leadership for the hog production group of their responsibility for prioritization of focus, capability building, resource allocation, and anything else necessary to continuously improve productivity.
  • Oversees, develops, implements and leads standardization with collaboration and input from the support operations staff to ensure maximized operational performance.
  • Works closely with other leadership groups within Smithfield in the identification of Bakery Ingredients, Marketing, and Transportation opportunities and provides guidance as to their technical and economic feasibility.
  • Responsible for leading the planning, development and deployment of industry best practices in Bakery Ingredients, Marketing and Transportation management and reliability.
  • Continually evaluates current operations for opportunities.
  • Drives sharing best practices across business units.
  • Develops and implements strategic, long, and short-term plans.
Employee Development
  • Incumbent will be responsible for understanding and complying with company SIPS, EMS and BMS policies and procedures while performing their job duties.
  • Report all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor.
  • Leads, builds, and manages the Bakery Ingredients, Domestic Marketing and Transportation Teams, comprised of highly productive and motivated individuals, and provides them with leadership and direction to design, develop, and execute business objectives and successfully deliver innovative and competitive solutions on time.
  • Read and understand the company’s emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site.
  • Partners with Human Resources to deploy leadership development opportunities, driving performance management, building a diverse workforce, and introduction of advanced leadership concepts to build an engaged and high performing workforce.
  • Drives a culture that emphasizes workplace safety, a people first environment, open communication, empowerment, and recognition.

  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 50% of the time.

  • Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and oral formats.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word, and SAP.
  • Experience leading multiple, complex, major capital investments, required.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team-oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree from regionally accredited four-year college or university in Business, or related field and 12+ years of experience in Support Operations management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of different pork products and the Meat Industry, preferred.
  • Ability to communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience effectively.
  • Ability to take broader roles.
  • Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
