Organization: Tuscarora Area Chamber of Commerce

Job Title: Executive Director

Job Overview:

The Tuscarora Chamber of Commerce Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the operations, strategic planning, and advocacy efforts of the chamber. Reporting to the board of directors, they work closely with the board and community stakeholders to promote the economic development and growth of businesses within the chamber's jurisdiction.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

• Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the chamber.

• Develop and implement policies and procedures in accordance with the chamber's objectives and mission.

• Perform the daily operations of the chamber and maintain the chamber office.

Advocacy and Government Relations:

• Serve as the primary spokesperson for the chamber, advocating on behalf of the business community.

• Establish and maintain relationships with government officials, legislators, and other key stakeholders.

• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory issues that may impact the local business community.

• Engage in public policy discussions and initiatives that align with the chamber's goals.

Membership Engagement and Development:

• Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain chamber members.

• Communicates the values of the chamber.

• Coordinate membership drives and promote the benefits of chamber membership.

• Plan and execute events, seminars, and networking opportunities to enhance member engagement.

• Attend and participate in all chamber-sponsored events and functions.

• Address member concerns and inquiries, providing support and resources as needed.

Financial Management:

• Develop and manage the chamber's annual budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility.

• Oversee fundraising activities, sponsorship opportunities, and revenue generation.

• Record financial transactions and monitor financial performance.

• Prepare financial reports and present them to the board of directors.

Community Relations and Collaboration:

• Foster positive relationships with local community organizations, businesses, and educational institutions.

• Collaborate with local stakeholders to promote economic development and community initiatives.

• Participate in community events and serve as a liaison between the chamber and other organizations.

Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED.

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing/communications, or a related field (preferred).

• Proven experience in leadership and management, preferably in a chamber of commerce or similar non-profit organization.

• Strong knowledge of business and economic development principles.

• Excellent verbal and written communication and public speaking skills.

• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

• Experience in advocacy, government relations, or public policy is desirable.

• Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial management.

• Develop publications, brochures, newsletters, and promotional literature and compile demographics.

• Proficient in using technology and social media platforms to promote the chamber's activities.

• Ability to work independently, make decisions, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Frequent evening and weekend hours due to events and functions.
