Job Description

Description: Wafa House is seeking an Executive Director, responsible for the direction of the organization. Works directly with the Board President and Board of Directors to fulfill the agency’s missions and vision. Provides leadership to the staff. Maintains and supervises the agency’s daily operations according to its policies, procedures and approval budgets. The Executive Director represents the organization to the greater community for further partnerships, advocary objectives, programing initiatives and community partnerships goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all other duties as required.
  • Participate in speaking engagements, representing the organization at community and state forums. Staying on top of domestic violence, victims rights legislative issues.
  • Supervise fundraising initiatives and procuring innovative income resources to support Wafa House’s mission and growth.
  • Proactively address challenges in the internal and external environment to protect organizational interests.
  • Provide final approval on all financial assistance client applications.
  • Manage the development of grants and renewals. Ensure all grant reports are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Provide the Board with a monthly Executive Director’s report including financial, staffing and other updates as necessary.
  • Develop an annual financial budget. Once approved by the Board, administer the budget, ensure the funds are allocated appropriately, managed, and reported according to sound accounting principles and according to funding agency guidelines.
  • Development, implementation and oversight of strategic plans that meet the organization's goals and objectives created in partnership with the Wafa House Board of Directors and key staff.
  • Serve as the chief spokesperson and advocate for the organization.
  • Oversee the overall operations of the clinical, legal and social services programs.
  • Facilitate the recruiting, hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Ensure commitment to and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations across the organization.
  • Sign all contracts and agreements made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
  • Oversee the organization’s key operations including payroll, HR, training, financial management, outreach, and marketing.
  • Donor engagement, community networking and relationship management.
  • Develop, update and enforce HR and employee policies to ensure an optimal working environment.
  • With the Board President develop agendas for meetings.
  • Create a more efficient organizational structure and workflow.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board President/Board of Directors by providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all the information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Middle Eastern and South Asian communities.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and action taking skills.
  • Familiarity with private, state and federal grant funding/writing/reporting.
  • Oral and written communications skills and ability to represent agency in the community.
  • Minimum of 2 years Fundraising/Fund Development, donor partnership and networking roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership, supervision, and management experience in a non-profit agency setting
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in grant management and reporting.
  • Advanced degree, and minimum of 3-5 years experience in a senior-level leadership role working in a non-profit organization in operations or program management.
  • Experience with setting goals and administering performance evaluations.
