Job Description
Job Title: Events ManagerDepartment: EventsReports To: Director of Events, Director of OperationsPrepared Date: 05/09/2022
SUMMARY: The Events Manager supports and manages guest services, events, homekeeping, and dining room. This person should have a detailed understanding of the full Microsoft Office suite, be able to proactively solve problems and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, changing environment. WORK AVAILABILITY: 40 hours, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. SALARY RANGE: $36K - $40K DOE
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Maintain budgetary needs, considerations and restraints
  • Make sure that all the Events Department functions are running smoothly
  • Perform office duties, such as ordering supplies and managing records database
  • As a member of the staff of Sunrise Ranch, contribute to the overall success and fulfillment of our mission through:
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned
  • Diligent, productive work that contributes to the Sunrise Ranch team effort
  • Coach, counsel, and discipline employees using the practice of corrective actions
  • Provide general administrative support
  • Keep spaces (both storage and front desk) organized
  • Enforce company policies and procedures to cultivate an environment that holds employees accountable
  • Facilitate communications between different areas of the department, as well as between the Events Department and other departments
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming faxes, e-mails, and other correspondence
  • Creative, uplifting expression that inspires others
  • Help organize inter-departmental efforts
  • Be proactive in creating solutions for potential issues that may arise within the department
  • Answer e-mails and route e-mails and all correspondence and messages to the correct parties
  • Communicate job expectations and monitor employee performance
  • Communicate supportively and clearly to leads, staff and guests in all cases
  • Clear, supportive surround for guests, visitors and staff
  • Supporting, promoting and contributing to the vision, plan and work of the Spiritual Director and the Trustees of Emissaries of Divine Light
  • Enthusiastic contribution to the fabric of the Sunrise Ranch community
  • Answer phones and route calls to the correct person or take messages
  • Effectively oversee events from start to finish, including internal EDL events
  • Oversee outreach and department marketing
  • Use various types of software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and empower department personnel
  • Ensure meal and break periods are followed according to Colorado state law
  • Submit relevant administrative work, such as time-off requests and timesheets
  • Train department personnel (staff, interns and volunteers)
  • Coach, counsel and provide feedback to employees using the practice of progressive discipline and/or corrective actions
  • Attend and participate in various business, staff and community meetings
  • Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Communicate job expectations and monitor employee performance
  • Mentor, motivate and support employee development based on Individual Development Plans (IDP)
  • Handle termination of employees in accordance with company policy (including pulling system access and retrieving company assets)
  • Enforce company policies, procedures and guidelines to cultivate a safe environment that holds employees accountable
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to see and organize the big picture pertaining to the department
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to organize a daily workload according to priorities
  • Experience managing people
  • Ability to handle a large scope of details and follow-up to completion
  • Professional-level verbal and written communications skills
  • Receptivity to direction and feedback
CONDITIONS:
  • Physical requirements – Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods, working on a computer, and must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
