The Events and Marketing Manager is responsible for Big Brothers Big Sister's signature events and overseeing third party events. This position ensures high-quality, brand-consistent, marketing communications which engage Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Rochester’s prospects — with the goal of transforming them into potential volunteers and donors
Reporting to the Development Officer, this position helps plan, execute, and evaluate a comprehensive marketing communications strategy and implements BBBS signature events. This position works collaboratively with members of the Development team to ensure consistency of message, and promote the overall organizational goals related to communications, philanthropy, and engagement.
This is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days/week in the Rochester office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Liaise with vendors, exhibitors, and stakeholders during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order. Book venues, entertainment, photographer, guest speakers, etc.
- In conjunction with the Development Officer and Event Committee; plan, coordinate, and implement BBBS signature fundraising events.
- Maintain event budgets with DO.
- Write compelling story for brochures, fundraising collateral, gift announcements, email newsletters and promotions, websites, impact reports, event invitations, talking points, and letters which move readers to take action.
- Strengthen marketing efforts to drive new and existing third-party events.
- Manage all print projects.
- Strategic oversite and management of content and design of the website.
- Identify interesting story subjects and craft narratives that showcase key BBBS Bigs and Littles (program participants), as well as funding priorities.
- Lead, implement, and execute marketing communications tactics designed to achieve annual business goals.
- Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes. Delegate committee members to assist.
- Develop plans for marketing original and current content on digital and social media, newsletters, and email marketing.
- Develop and implement long and short-term internal and external communications plans in support of philanthropic giving to BBBS.
- Assist in solicitation of sponsorships and gifts in support of BBBS signature fundraising events.
- Manage all BBBS email marketing initiatives, including event communications, recruitment design, newsletters, and develop a communication calendar.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, Associates with experience accepted
· 2-3 years of experience in event planning, marketing, communications, development, or equivalent combination of education and experience
· Strong record of progressive experience in modern communications, including strong writing and editing skills, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of marketing
· Proficiency with content management, social media tools and event planning
· Extensive experience in writing, editing, and marketing. Experience with web management preferred.
· Outstanding communication skills, including direct interpersonal skills; flexibility and adaptability; excellent organization, and ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects

Full-time/Non-Exempt
COMPENSATION:
$26.00 - $28.00/hour
