Join one of the nation’s most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as an Event Marketing Manager. This position is based on-site at Hyde Park, with remote flexibility.
Job Summary
The Event Marketing Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing a comprehensive community-based events and sponsorship program for the University of Chicago Medicine and its affiliate sites, including UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial. With a focus on strengthening brand reputation, increasing patient referrals, and driving employee engagement, the Event Marketing Manager works closely with various members of UChicago Medicine’s Marketing and Communication team to execute strategic detailed marketing plans. The ideal candidate has strong event evaluation and planning skills in addition to hands-on event management. The Event Marketing Manager will also collaborate with internal stakeholders, senior leadership, clinicians, and medical center development as appropriate to identify strategic sponsorship and partnership opportunities that raise the visibility of the University of Chicago Medicine brand among patients, referring physicians and other key stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for benchmarking and implementing best practices across all community-based event activities and sponsorships.
- Evaluates event and sponsorship success through analytical and qualitative assessments.
- Works to develop event ideas for both online and offline, and has experience managing, producing, and promoting online event opportunities.
- Responsible for driving cross-functional teams to leverage the communications and processes required to successfully execute special events.
- Maintains a deep understanding of the University of Chicago Medicine’s research and clinical programs by establishing relationships with the administrative staff and clinical faculty.
- Develops and maintains strategic community partnerships to help generate referrals and build an audience.
- Understand University of Chicago Medicine’s brand positioning with the ability to ensure consistent, on-brand messaging.
- Works with Marketing leaders to set budgets for community event and sponsorship programs.
- Collaborates with communications and physician relations teams to maximize brand awareness and event attendance.
- Performs other duties as requested by senior management.
- Works closely with internal marketing managers, web team, external designers, and agencies to develop effective and successful event advertising and marketing materials across multiple platforms including print and online.
- Oversees all stages of community event strategy and production including event conception, budgeting, vendor negotiation, speaker selection, on-site management, and post event analysis.
Qualifications
- 6-8 years directly related experience in event planning and management; healthcare industry a plus
- Past managerial experience (at least one direct report)
- Understanding of branding and the ability to carry out the brand message throughout the program or event
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business, or public relations
- Ability to travel up to 10% locally
- Experience managing events with a budget of at least $100,000
- Ability to work effectively with all stakeholders, and communicate the vision of the event with C-level executives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word
- Superior critical thinking and analytic skills
- Must be able to demonstrate solid judgment and discretion
- Background creating successful partnerships with cross-functional teams, including administrators, medical professionals, marketing, communications, production, design and strategy teams
- Background in managing multiple concurrent projects for multiple events
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
