The Career Center is part of the Division of Student Affairs with strong and broad-reaching relationships and responsibilities throughout campus, including the academic colleges. Divided into three units (Career Education; Employer Connections; and Operations), the Career Center not only provides career-related-advising and -services to students, it fills many additional functions critical to the success of the university and students, including, but not limited to, campus-wide career fair coordination and job/internship postings, employer relations, institutional career outcome reporting, and student employment leadership. The Career Center is responsible to a variety of internal and external stakeholders and leverages those relationships to help students investigate the many available professional opportunities with special consideration for finding paths that meet their skills, goals, values, and unique identities. Position Summary
The Event Coordinator is a full-time, 12-month position, responsible for coordinating the Career Center’s career fairs, determining the Career Center’s event strategies, and serving as a resource for the Career Center team around event coordination; individually consulting and developing online resources to help ensure the Career Center’s extensive event offerings are successful and that team members have the tools needed to execute their own events. The Event Coordinator will demonstrate a commitment to valuing social justice and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment through event strategy and planning. The position will actively partner with the Employer Relations Coordinators and Career Education Managers in the Career Center to serve as the main point of coordination for all campus-wide career fairs. This position functions amid a fast-paced workflow requiring a keen sense of organization and sound project management skills. The Event Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Employer Relations and serves as a key member of the university-wide Career Center and participates in all Career Center activities.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Professional experience working in higher education.

Career Fair Strategy & Coordination

Duty/Responsibility
  • Lead training for on-site career fair staff and volunteers.
  • Assist with the development of the career fair and employer relations budget by evaluating revenue and expenses from previous year and estimating future projections.
  • Coordinate all career fair logistics, including registration processes, payment processes, room reservations, catering, parking arrangements, and communications.
  • Lead strategy and coordination for campus-wide career fairs including determining number, format (in-person, virtual, or hybrid) and focus of fairs in partnership with the Employer Relations Coordinators and Career Education Managers.
  • Directly communicate with employers about career fair registration and payments including managing employer special requests and demands.
  • Coordinate an on-site career fair staffing plan to ensure there are prepared staff to steward employers, triage issues, and support logistical needs.
  • Communicate with campus partners, specifically other career-related offices, to share information about career fairs, foster collaboration, and encourage student and employer participation in career fairs.
  • Respond to questions and resolve problems concerning employer requests using judgement and interpretation of CSU policies and Career Center guidelines.
  • Prepare pre- and post-career fair surveys to gather feedback; make data-informed decisions and adjustments to future career fairs.
  • Coordinate with campus partners, other career-related CSU offices, and other institutions in Colorado and Wyoming to coordinate career fair dates, strategy, and collaboration when appropriate.
  • Foster collaborative, inclusive partnerships with employers and university departments to provide quality career fair experiences for students.

Duty/Responsibility
  • Assist in the management of events budgets for the Career Center; collaborate closely with the Business Coordinator and Director of Employer Relations to manage expenses and revenue. Analyze department expense reports and counsel staff on event budget management.
  • Manage signature Career Center events as requested/needed.
  • Collaborate and be a resource to student organizations that are planning their own career-related events.
  • Support with other CSU office’s career-related events, which often use the Career Center’s registration system and payment system; consult other CSU offices on career fairs and event best practices.
  • Collaborate with student staff to effectively market events using many mediums including, but not limited to, social media, classroom presentations, and club presentations.
  • Demonstrate commitment to valuing social justice and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment through event strategy and planning.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement event management planning trainings, onboarding, and other organizational development focused needs.
  • Coordinate and consult with the Career Center team regarding event management; individually consult and develop online resources to help ensure the Career Center’s extensive event offerings are successful and that team members have the tools needed to execute their own events.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, mentor, hold accountable, and evaluate several student events interns. Support student staff development by actively engaging in supervision development for self, mentoring student staff, and creating an inclusive and welcoming work environment where employees are valued and recognized.
  • Coordinate the Career Center events calendar.
  • Lead a semesterly process for deciding the Career Center’s events plan by determining which events are mission-centered.
