Grossmont College is seeking an Equity and OER (open educational resources) Librarian. This position is responsible for the coordination of campus OER and leading our library team's equity initiatives.
Grossmont College is an Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), and we are looking for individuals who have experience collaborating with equity efforts or programs such as: Puente program, Umoja, First Year Experience, other interdisciplinary-linked courses, and continued development of Area F requirement (Ethnic Studies General Education). Responsibilities include engaging underserved students using a variety of approaches that improve retention and success. Duties include integrating instructional support and co-curricular activities as well as developing and leading the library's efforts in outreach and marketing of library services to underserved students. The successful candidate will have responsibility for providing equity-minded leadership in the development, assessment and continuous improvement of the library's reference services, face-to-face and online information literacy instruction program.
Additionally, this position will facilitate OER development, adoption, and adaptation at the college. This will include active collaboration with faculty, staff, administrators, and students in promoting OER. The successful candidate will expand our growing commitment to OER and further establish zero-textbook cost degree pathways.
Librarians also serve as liaisons to academic departments, with corresponding collection development. Librarians are expected to perform reference and instruction as assigned. Participation as a key member of the library team is required in developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating the library's programs and services. Committee work outside the library is expected.
This position will work Monday through Friday but may be assigned to work weekends. Hours may vary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: APPLICANTS MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA:
Master's in library science, library and information science; OR The equivalent.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in providing instruction via workshops or courses in Information Literacy in a variety of modalities
  • Experience in providing service at a library reference desk while employing online search strategies
  • Commitment to maintaining current knowledge of instructional methods and emerging technologies and applying those technologies to a community college library
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism initiatives and Open Educational Resources
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a broad spectrum of cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, ability level, and language backgrounds
  • Participate effectively in a collaborative environment with a commitment to service excellence

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience communicating to and collaborating with faculty to find, develop, license, adopt, and/or adapt OER
  • Experience developing web pages
  • Experience developing, marketing, and driving innovative programs to connect underserved and disproportionally impacted students with library services and resources
  • Experience or ability to experiment with multimedia and digital instructional materials to advance how users interact with the library
  • Ability to participate in the development of library policies and procedures
  • Experience with shared governance and participation in staff, faculty, committee, and professional meetings
