Job Description
Overview:
LICH serves a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. Environmental Service Worker III demonstrates the ability to deal effectively with various age groups of patients, visitors and staff in order to provide required duties. The unique physical and psychosocial needs of patients relative to age-specific requirements are considered in the provision of ESW III duties. Communication skills must be demonstrated through age-specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
  • Breaks down equipment at the end of shift.
  • Consistently uses wet floor signs while floor refinishing in a safe manner.
  • Is knowledgeable and demonstrates the proper procedure to shower scrub, strip and refinish floors.
  • Operates automatic scrubbing machine.
  • Is Familiar and demonstrates the ability to make decisions on what products needed to complete assignment on time.
  • Obtains equipment and supplies in an efficient manner
  • Places equipment in proper storage area.
  • Ensures all equipment is safe and in proper working condition
  • Has knowledge of all chemicals and their proper usage
  • Communicate with ES Manager/Supervisor.
  • Dry mops/damp mops assigned areas.
  • Communicate progress of assigned duties to ES Manager/Supervisor including completion of assignment.
  • Keeps corners and baseboards clean in assigned areas.
  • Ensures floor is free of debris.
  • At end of shift communicates to ES Manager/Supervisors any assignments not completed
  • Familiar with chemicals used in floor refinishing and their proper usage.
  • Is knowledgeable of equipment used for moving heavy objects and uses it safely.
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments.
  • Ability to operate floor buffing equipment.
  • Notifies Environmental Supervisor of the equipment in need of repair.
  • At beginning of shift, communicate with ES Manager/Supervisors regarding the day’s agenda and goals.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalency in order to follow written work assignments & maintain records
Approximately one to three months experience to gain knowledge of cleaning procedures and power equipment use and maintenance.
Continued education through appropriate seminars, workshops, participation in departmental meetings, inservices & attention to Brookhavens memorandum.
Good interpersonal skills demonstrable in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors.
