Environmental Project Engineer (PE)

Our client, an employee-owned, global environmental consulting and engineering firm, is seeking an Environmental Project Engineer (PE Required) with 8 - 15 years of experience in the environmental consulting realm for their San Diego or Long Beach office.

This industry leader specializes in custom solutions in Environmental Management and Planning, Civil Design Engineering, Environmental Restoration, Natural & Water Resources, Health & Safety, and Technology with offices operating within the US.

The Environmental Engineer Project Manager will work on projects ranging from site investigations to regulatory compliance tasks, feasibility studies, and remedial design and/or implementation. What You Will be Doing:

• Develop technical recommendations for site assessment and remediation activities.
• Mentoring junior staff.
• Review existing data and develop a strategy to fill data gaps and determine a remedial approach
• Provide overall project management and assisting in establishing project-specific objectives.
• Provide environmental compliance support to senior regulatory specialists, including data collection for permitting and/or registration, data analysis, regulatory compliance evaluation, and assessment.
• Oversee and manage subcontractors
• Conduct site investigation activities (soil, groundwater, indoor air (VI), soil gas, and stormwater sampling)
• Initiate and complete environmental inspections at client facilities
• Provide data compilation, database management, statistical evaluation, and modeling
• Design and lead pilot studies and field testing for various/emerging contaminants
• Provide environmental compliance support to senior regulatory specialists, including data collection for permitting and/or registration, data analysis, regulatory compliance evaluation, and assessment.
• Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders
• Write and review technical reports
• Manage a project team to support a variety of environmental assessment and remediation projects.
• Prepare remediation feasibility studies, remedial action plans, and cost estimates
• Perform remedial evaluations, O&M of remedial systems, and troubleshooting

Project Engineer Qualifications:

• HAZWOPER training and certification
• California Professional Engineer, (P.E.)
• Between 8 and 15 years of experience
• Prior environmental investigation and remediation experience
• Strong understanding of CEQA
• Bachelor’s or Master’s (preferred) degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering, or Geology.
• Strong experience with vapor mitigation, groundwater/soil remediation, and remediation O&M
• Overnight travel is required
• Strong working knowledge of Cal-EPA (DTSC and/or RWQCB) policies and programs
• Understanding of Federal facility policies, procedures, and regulations
• High level of knowledge of RCRA and CERCLA laws and policies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
