AECOM is seeking an Entry Level GIS Specialist in the Atlanta, GA & Charlotte, NC area.
_This position is expected to begin in May/June 2023._
The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to:
+ Works under direct supervision.
+ Develops and maintains databases, reports, and maps.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
+ Performs quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components.
+ Uses concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients.
+ Creates, organizes, manipulates, and retrieves GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
+ This level is typically provided data from a level II or III for database entry and/or providing basic figures for projects and presentations. Level I is an end user of designs completed by level II and III.
+ Utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information for new and ongoing FEMA floodplain mapping projects.
+ Prepares and updates metadata.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ BA/BS Geography, Geoscience, Environmental, or related and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS mapping products
+ Experience working across remote networked storage environments
+ Ability to obtain a Certification as a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)
+ Experience in the development of online mapping platforms and applications
+ Proficiency in the processing and analysis of raster and vector geospatial data
+ Understanding of complex relational database organization, design, and functionality
+ Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles
+ Knowledge of the FEMA Regulatory Mapping process and FEMA Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping highly preferred.
+ Should possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate in both verbal and written form.
