The Entertainment Wardrobe Supervisor oversees all aspects of the onboard Broadway, Signature, Ice, Aqua & Parade costumes, wigs & props in all onboard show venues. This position oversees repairs, alterations, storage organization, laundering & on-going costume maintenance as well as basic wig maintenance.Attends costumed technical runs and production meetings to review schedules and relay any pertinent wardrobe related information to the casts & backstage teams.Oversees the backstage areas to ensure cast costumes, wigs & personal props are returned after every show day, and these areas are kept neat & organized.
The Entertainment Wardrobe Supervisor is required to send detailed reports including photos and descriptions to the shoreside Wardrobe Operations Team. Identifies items requiring replacement for future casts and any immediate issues that need to be addressed. Also ensures laundry & work rooms are fully stocked and manages the makeup inventory where applicable.
Must have an even temperament, be friendly, flexible, highly organized, and possess leadership skills and be comfortable working in fast-paced environment with diverse teams.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Ability to operate and perform maintenance on a variety of sewing equipment.
- Minimum 2-year theatrical costume alterations & wig experience.
- College degree or diploma in Costume Design or Construction.
- Backstage wardrobe crew experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
·Minimum 4 years sewing experience including:
oMachine Stitching (Blind hem, zig zag, buttonhole)
oHand Stitching
oConstruction Knowledge
oAdvanced Sewing Techniques
oFitting menswear
oFitting womenswear
oAble to work on multiple makes and models of sewing machines.
oAbility to sew various fabrics and trims.
oAbility to use a serger (or merrow) machine.
oMinimum 1-year accessories and head piece maintenance experience, including backpacks.
oExperience working with feathers.
oTechnical problem-solving skills
oMust be able to alter both male and female costumes, as well as diverse shapes and sizes.
oMust work at a fast pace to meet the demanding schedule, and quick turnaround time.
oAppropriate costume care technique knowledge
oKnowledge of fabrics and the cleaning & care thereof.
oNeed to have good communication skills.
oBasic wig handling skills required. (Washing, steaming & setting styles)
oCruise ship experience highly recommended, but not required
oAqua show experience recommended, but not required
oBe willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan.
LANGUAGE REQUIEREMENTS
·Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially.
·Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information to subordinates and colleagues.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
·Physical: Must pass the company required medical evaluation, and have the physical ability to walk long distances, climb stairs, bend down for fittings and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Vision: Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
WORKING CONDITIONS
•While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear, and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
•Extensive travel from ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities require good health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key for prolonged success in the position
•All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal, and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency, including the lowering of lifeboats. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
•Work Hours:
All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM standards, USPH guidelines, environmental, and safety policies.Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various food and beverage service venues throughout the ship.
In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in Excellence, each employee always conducts oneself professionally and courteously.This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employeesand/or in the presence of guest contact and crewareas.
Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various venues and throughout the ship.
