You’ll plan, design, develop, evaluate, test, and integrate basic systems infrastructure, including the implementation of hardware and software solutions both on premise and in the cloud. • Supporting production, test, and development environments including cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Monitoring system health and performance.
  • Monitoring EC2 instances, storage resources, capacity planning, and storage allocation forecasting.
  • Supporting NetBackup and IBM TSM infrastructure including but not limited to: NetBackup appliances, SL8500 Tape Libraries, NetBackup Media servers, NetBackup clients.
  • Developing automation scripts and solutions for the purposes of streamlining, implementing, and testing enterprise applications.
  • Configuring monitoring tools.
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers and teams to resolve issues and help integrate with existing pipelines and workflows.
  • Upgrading hardware and software.
  • Installing software and system/security patches.
  • Coordinating and documenting system configurations and monitoring transitions into production.
  • Supporting offsite backups.
  • Implementing vulnerability testing, threat analyses, and security checks (Security Assessments).
  • Performing root cause analysis on failed components and basic troubleshooting and remediation.
  • Creating and maintaining programmatic and technical documentation to ensure efficient planning and execution.

This role may be considered as part of the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.
Where you'll be working...

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of work experience.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Experience in programming background in any scripting language (e.g., shell, perl, ksh) or other systems operation-based language.
  • SAN (Storage Area Network) certifications.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in specialized training/courses on LINUX or UNIX-based operating systems.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of Veritas NetBackup and Storage Area Networks.

  • Experience in logging and monitoring dashboard tools (e.g., Zabbix, Grafana).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
