Job Title: Systems Engineer
Location: National Harbor, MD (Hybrid)
Type: Full Time
Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 DOE, Annually
Cloudforce is looking for a Systems Engineer who will play a critical role in managing, monitoring and maintaining servers and networks for a high-valued client. The Systems Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge Azure-cloud infrastructure and services that meet business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate new technologies and tools that could enhance system performance, security, and efficiency, and make recommendations to IT leadership.
- Provide technical support to end-users, addressing their inquiries and resolving technical issues promptly.
- Monitor network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, and switches, to ensure secure and efficient data flow.
- Respond to and resolve system alerts, incidents, and service requests in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement necessary adjustments to optimize performance and prevent downtime.
- Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support and urgent technical matters.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and execute IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and hardware replacements.
- Create and maintain documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access levels to various systems and applications.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and software updates across various platforms.
- Maintain security protocols and implement best practices to safeguard sensitive data, including regular data backups and disaster recovery strategies.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and task simplification.
- Experience with security protocols, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- In-depth knowledge of various operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix), network protocols, and hardware components.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
- At minimum 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or in a similar IT role, demonstrating hands-on expertise in managing and maintaining complex systems.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation.
- Familiarity with network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Adaptability to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly.
- Organized with an ability to prioritize effectively and manage own projects.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud services (particularly Azure).
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
