Job Summary


The Employee Health Specialist is responsible for the coordination of activities of the employee health program, which include but are not limited to, workers' compensation program and claims management, wellness programs, employee safety, vaccination monitoring, OSHA, regulatory compliance, and injury prevention.


Job Duties And Responsibilities


  • 2.Coordinates onboarding of new employees, volunteers and students with HR. Reviews immunization records and determines immediate needs and annual renewals.
  • Develops and maintains professional skills and awareness of regulatory requirements
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships. Participates as an active member of various committees; leads work groups, projects and committees as assigned.
  • 4.Assists with the administration of Employee Health programs, such as worker’s compensation, work place injury prevention, and leave of absence including return to work programs and ADA. Maintains leave of absence documents and records. Maintains Employee Health policy documents.
  • Essential Job Function
  • 1.Represents HR, Employee Health and the organization in a manner consistent with SPMC values. Responds to employees, visitors, calls and electronic inquiries in a friendly and helpful manner. Takes initiative to handle things within scope/ability; appropriately seeks assistance or redirects issues outside of scope/ability.
  • Performs a wide variety of both routine and complex administrative activities to ensure department functions are carried out in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains all documents, records and files in good order. Assists in the development of effective and efficient tools and procedures
  • 5.In partnership with Infection Prevention, coordinates flu shot clinics and initiatives.
  • Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned
  • Serves as the champion for employee health and wellness by leading Safety Committee, Peak Performance (Wellness Program) and participating in Emergency Preparedness.


Organizational Responsibilities


In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, all employees are expected to support the Summit Pacific Medical Center mission, vision and values; comply with SPMC policies and procedures; and conduct themselves in an ethical, professional, respectful, and collaborative manner at all times.


Required Education And Experience


  • Employee health or human resources experience preferred. Worker’s Compensation experience strongly preferred
  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program
  • 5 years of intermediate or advanced administrative/clerical experience


Required Licenses, Certifications And/or Registrations


  • Current and unrestricted LPN certification through Washington State Department of Health
  • May consider a Medical Assistant with active MA-C license.

  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.
  • Ability to develop processes and protocols and to maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Ability to use data and analytics to drive outcomes.
  • Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, and patients. Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills. Ability to work independently performing a wide variety of assignments that require the use of independent judgment, problem-solving, organization and prioritization of skills.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic medical records and other systems/equipment.


The pay range for this position is $25.10 – $35.03 per hour, depending on experience.
