PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hiring Range: $26.57 - $36.53/hourly ($55,259.32 - $75,981.40 annually), based on education and professional experience which exceeds minimum qualifications.
Full Salary Range: $26.57-$41.51 hourly ($55,259.32 - $86,342.69 annually)
Bilingual team members may also qualify for additional compensation.

  • Aurora911 is staffed by public safety professionals who are trained to answer and triage 9-1-1 and non-emergency telephone calls, as well as dispatch police, fire, paramedic, and alternative response resources. Our dedicated 9-1-1 professionals gather and analyze critical life-safety information from callers and send the information via computer to police, fire and or paramedic dispatchers who are responsible for coordinating the response of field responders. The Aurora911 team works in partnership with Aurora Police Department, Aurora Fire Rescue, Falck ambulance, Aurora Mobile Response Team, Information Technology, and other city departments to ensure the safety and quality of life for residents, businesses and visitors in the City of Aurora.
  • Aurora911 processes 9-1-1 and non-emergency calls from the citizens and visitors in the City of Aurora. Over 600,000 telephone calls for service are received annually, the majority of which result in the dispatch of police, fire, rescue, or emergency medical responders.
  • The Records and Reporting Specialist is a self-propelled professional who is responsible for receiving, researching, reviewing and releasing discoverable public safety communications information, records and reports to internal and external public safety personnel and the public; processes Open Records and CCJRA and other judicial records requests; redacts and confirms releasability of records and ensures strict compliance with deadlines prescribed by law and policy; Maintains strong working relationships with City and District Attorney’s offices and other city departments; responsible for creating and collecting and reporting statistical data specifically related to departmental activity, departmental performance measures, and service level delivery; and will develop the ability to retrieve CAD data through reporting features.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as liaison between Aurora911 and other internal and external stakeholders, regarding requests for records and reporting information.
  • Receive and prioritize routine and urgent requests to ensure deadline success for departmental records, data, reports and judicial discovery, the fulfillment of Colorado Open Records Act requests, and the sharing of CJIS data maintained by the department. These requests may come from the public, internal COA partners, external judicial entities, and other stakeholders, and exist through various forms (digital, written, automated).
  • Maintains a system of organization to accurately track and report incoming, pending and completed requests, to ensure timely turnaround of request fulfillment and account for time spent per request.
  • Works closely with other city departments, outside public safety agencies, and City Attorney offices for Douglas, Arapahoe, and Adams counties.
  • Operate a variety of public safety communications equipment including 911 call data retrieval, advanced location systems, computer aided dispatch systems, public safety radio system, instant recall recorder and internal records requests systems and workflows.
  • Provides guidance, information, and assistance to requestors; refer and/or transfer matters to outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Performs duties in compliance with records retention in compliance with all applicable fulfillment laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains complex record keeping and reporting systems.
  • Provides training, guidance and assistance to other city employees who access the recording system. Assists with initial onboarding and introduction to the unit, and its processes.
  • Researches and solves report, record, and identification problems.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Tracks, distributes, files and scan documents and audio recordings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED. The selected candidate will be required to submit proof, in the form of an official transcript of the highest level of education completed as indicated on their application and/or resume
Licenses and Certifications:
  • Certified as a Notary Public by the State of Colorado (or the ability to acquire certification within the first year of employment)
  • CCIC/NCIC Operator Security Number (or the ability to require an OSN)
Experience:
  • Experience in creating, administering, and providing data reports utilizing CAD, SQL, RMS, phone systems and other public safety related data platforms.
  • Redaction experience highly preferred.
  • Experience with complex record keeping (examples: request tracking, deadlines, invoicing, workflows, project timelines)
  • Two (2) years of Experience working with criminal justice records, public safety communications records (CAD and audio recording), and Open Records processing.
Knowledge:
  • Working knowledge of Colorado Open Records Act (CORA)
  • Customer service principles and problem resolution techniques.
  • Applicable tools and equipment operations.
  • Applications of policies and procedures into work processes.
  • Operational characteristics of public safety telecommunications equipment
  • Working knowledge of Colorado Criminal Justice Records Act (CCJRA)
  • Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations
  • Modern office technology and equipment, including computers and job-related software applications.
  • Principles and practices of complex record keeping and documentation (examples: request tracking, invoicing, deadlines, project timelines, workflows)
  • Geographic features and locations within the area served.
  • English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Abilities:
  • Establish and maintain priority of workload through well-organized prioritization tactics.
  • Remain subject to callback and holdover as needed to fulfill urgent requests.
  • Clearly speak, write, and comprehend American English language.

Essential Personnel:
  • Members of Aurora911 are considered essential personnel and are subject to call back or extended shifts in order to ensure continuity of services to the city.
Physical Demands:
