Position Summary:
As an Electronic Controls Technician (E-Tech), you will focus on equipment troubleshooting and maintaining automation equipment for high-volume manufacturing such as loading modules, presses, wash systems, annealing systems, material conveyors, cameras, sensors, print and apply labeling systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets.
- Assist in establishing/maintaining preventive maintenance related to electronic/electrical systems.
- Partner with Mechanics to resolve equipment and electrical problems that create performance deficiencies.
- Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
- Maintain positive working relationships with operations and site support resources.
- Communicate technical issues to site and operations leadership to escalate issues that impact operations, minimizing downtime impact.
- Update or create electrical schematics as required.
- Seek out and implement continuous improvement projects related to costs, quality, and efficiency.
- Assist in identifying and establishing critical spare part inventory related to electronic needs for operations equipment.
- Support and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, motors, servo and frequency drives, robotics, sensors, and electrical distribution systems.
- Experience supporting a range of different automation systems.
- Experience supporting network controls of industrial equipment (particularly Ignition).
- Experience with automation for ammunition or explosive-rated equipment.
- Experience with technical support of robotics.
- Working knowledge of aspects of electronic control systems: PLCs, HMIs, motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, electrical schematics, wiring conventions and standard electrical components.
- Experience with AB & SIEMENS PLCs and PLC components.
- 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in Control Systems troubleshooting/ programming.
- 3+ years of experience troubleshooting electrical and electronic issues of Industrial equipment.
- 2+ years of experience working with Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) programs.
- 2+ years of experience working with HMIs.
- Experience with robotic maintenance.
- Associate’s degree with 3+ years of relevant work experience or a high school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
