Our plant in Fairfield, California, currently has an opportunity for a Facilities and Utilities Technician (1st Shift, 6:00AM – 2:30PM Pacific, Mondays – Fridays, with some weekend (Sunday) overtime if required, typically once a month.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Facilities Apprentice is responsible for maintaining the plant in a safe and reliable condition in compliance with all applicable corporate, state, and federal codes, for the Manufacturing and Maintenance Department. The role will work onsite at our Fairfield, California manufacturing plant.
- Clean and replace filters on baghouse equipment, replace ceiling lightbulbs/fixtures from a lift, clean bird/bug screens on plant roof, operate a motorized pipe snake to clear drain clogs, refill/swap chemical supply tanks/totes for wastewater operation.
- Wire up and replace electric motors, repair basic wiring and replace lighting fixtures and lamps, correct size fusing, motor overload protection and wire size per National Electric Code (NEC), read electrical schematics and wire directly from wiring diagrams, use of electrical and precision tools to complete assigned work.
- Perform troubleshooting and minor repairs on doors, cabinets, signage, lights, eyewash stations, plumbing fixtures, ceiling tiles, paint, epoxy, and other facilities equipment.
- Maintain all facility areas in an acceptable state of functionality and appearance.
- Perform rounds to monitor and identify concerns with plant utility systems, including compressed air, hot and chilled water, wastewater, fire sprinklers, fire alarms, eye wash stations, fire extinguishers, ladders, HVAC systems, and electrical distribution systems.
- Complete all training as scheduled and perform cross training and other work-related duties as assigned, including OJT to other employees
- Lead and assist in the planning, coordination and performance of shutdown and major maintenance tasks.
- Tasks may require individuals to work any shift, any department, weekends, and overtime to support production and general plant needs.
- Provide outstanding customer service to other plant departments addressing their concerns to resolve GMP and Safety issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Plan and execute line support as required for non-routine problems and issues.
- Implement and maintain the effectiveness of the quality system.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) work to keep plant systems functioning and complete computerized Work Order documentation to maintain quality record. Be able to write and close work orders, identify and order parts, and make effective use of the stockroom system.
- Record and communicate shift activity in an organized manner.
- Engage in safety, compliance, continuous improvement, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as a routine part of their job responsibilities. Follow all department and plant procedures.
- Troubleshoot equipment and systems problems for manufacturing and facility equipment, both routine and complex, using a defined method of troubleshooting to get to root cause, reading of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams both routine and complex as required.
- Troubleshoot, operate, and restart any tripped or stopped plant utility equipment, such as: air compressors, process chillers, cooling tower, pumps. Be able to communicate concerns upward if outside vendor support is required.
PAY & SHIFT:
- This is a First shift position, that works from 6:00AM – 2:30PM Pacific, Mondays – Fridays. This role will have some required overtime, typically on Sundays, once a month.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Ability to work some weekends and/or overtime as needed
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with troubleshooting HVAC equipment, machining or welding parts, experience with reading blueprints and schematics, experience with pumps, motors and drives and knowledge of the use of precision tools/instruments.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards and requirements for infant formula and nutritional products.
- Experience with cycle-based PM systems and problem-solving techniques such as 5 Whys, Kepner Tregoe, Analytical Troubleshooting, Potential Problem Analysis, etc.
The salary for this role is between $21 – $41
