Phoenix College (PC), the first public junior college in Arizona, welcomed its first students on September 13, 1920. Job Summary


Phoenix College has an exciting opportunity for an electrician. The electrician position is a critical component of the maintenance team. This position responds to time critical electrical outages of computer equipment and lighting. Other requests for repairs and new equipment is responded to in a timely manner. Safety concerns such as fire alarm and exterior lighting are constantly being monitored and repaired as necessary.

Essential Functions


45% - Provides inspection, installation and repairs of interior and exterior lighting

25% - Troubleshoots electrical problems of equipment, systems and components; plans and estimates costs for special projects; maintains records, logs and system documentation

20%- Provides fire alarm maintenance and troubleshooting; prepares and adheres to electrical system inspection and preventive maintenance schedules

10%- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications


High School Diploma or GED and (4) four years of experience as a journey level electrician.
There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications

  • Six years or more experience as a journeyman level electrician .
  • One year or more experience as a service electrician
  • Experience with online workorder system such as SchoolDude
  • Experience with MS Office Suite and Google forms for maintaining service records.

Special Working Conditions

  • May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs.
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends
  • Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
  • Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
  • May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving.
