Position Overview

The Electrician is responsible for general electrical work required for installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical equipment and systems necessary for construction, renovation, or maintenance in designated County buildings.

• High school diploma, G.E.D. equivalency.
• Current State Journeyman Electricians license is required.

• Five (5) years hands-on in commercial or residential electrical work.

• Understand and have thorough knowledge of electrical tools and codes and display mechanical aptitude.
• Self-starter possessing the interpersonal skills required to be a productive team player.
• Maintain a courteous, helpful behavior at all times.
• Have (or acquire within six (6) months of hire date) and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License with Air Brake Certification.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions in a thorough, neat, and timely manner and be skilled in reading and building from blueprints.
• Ability to receive CJIS clearance, pass a security check and a drug test, as required. This position is Safety Sensitive and will be subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

• 40 hours per week in eight-hour shifts in a 24-hour per day/7 day per week operation normally
• Subject to early morning, evening, weekend, overtime, and Holiday work as required

• Based on 26 Pay Periods
• Commensurate with experience

• Will work in cramped and awkward positions with all types of mechanical tools, electric and other equipment, and may be exposed to dust, dirt, paint fumes, etc.
• May work outside in all kinds of weather; may work with no air conditioning or heating, will work on ladders and scaffolding; duties require standing, sitting, stretching, bending, stooping, climbing, frequent lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. of equipment, supplies, and tools and must have the ability to safely install rigging/lifting devices for heavier items.
