Kleinfelder is looking to add an Electrical Engineering co-op from Toledo, Maumee, and Bowling Green to join our Ohio Area Electrical Department in Maumee, OH! This Co-Op will begin in September 2023.
We are looking for candidate who can thrive and learn in a team-oriented workplace. The Ohio Area Electrical Department offers a wide range of challenging project work and a great opportunity to learn and develop professionally. This position will offer a flexible work schedule and reporting location and allow for limited work from home opportunities along with office days.
Required Experience:
  • A strong commitment for accountability to project quality and schedule.
  • Desire to learn, or experience in, electrical engineering associated with industrial facilities and commercial buildings,
  • The ability to organize priorities and multi-task effectively, and
  • A can-do attitude and problem-solving mindset are essential, and
  • A thirst to learn and achieve continuous improvement in a team environment, and
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills,
Education (Including any required Certifications):
We ask that students be at minimum a Junior pursuing a degree towards Electrical Engineering and have at least one prior co-op experience with an engineering firm, general contractor, or other company.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
The candidate should have the ability to readily learn, the fundamentals of the design of buildings and foundations including:
  • Ability to assist in reviewing and processing Submittals and Shop Drawings
  • Ability to adhere to organizational standards for quality and performance
  • Ability to assist in performing field observation and field measurements to record existing conditions
  • Ability to learn Electrical Analysis (SKM, Visual Lighting)
  • Ability to assist in preparing basic electrical calculations under the direction of an Electrical Engineer or the Senior Electrical Engineer
  • Ability to assist in the drafting of plans and details
  • Ability to read and interpret applicable building codes and design codes
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Experience in AutoCAD
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other design disciplines (MEP) to coordinate the electricals with the overall design
  • Ability to assist in preparing meeting minutes
  • Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, willingness to climb, work at heights, over water, and other austere conditions for inspections and/or observations
  • Ability to assist in reviewing and processing RFIs
  • Ability to use Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook, and Teams to effectively communicate with internal and external clients,
  • Ability to work safe and adhere to the Kleinfelder safety program requirements
  • Ability to assist in reviewing/checking calculations prepared by others
  • Prior experience or willingness to learn Revit
