Cenovus is looking for students who are seeking an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a refining environment.  We are looking for individuals who can bring fresh ideas to the table, and who are willing to learn from some of the industry's most innovative and talented people.

Responsibilities


  • Providing back-up to pipeline, terminal, truck, and rail schedulers
  • Providing analytical support for the team’s economics, pricing, and forecasting functions
  • Providing statistical analyses and information regarding business activities
  • Supporting daily management of all HMSC logistical functions including fleet planning, product scheduling, & inventory management
  • Developing standard reports and responding to data requests
  • Work to develop of provide inputs into LP models
  • Improving the effectiveness of our performance reporting for sales, trading, and scheduling teams
  • Preparing and presenting an industry project to a variety of key stakeholders, including HMSC leadership
  • Conducting market studies and analysis.
  • Analyzing monthly product sales requirements and assisting in the development of schedules for the movement of those refined products through pipeline, rail, and truck


Qualifications


  • Working knowledge of VBA, SQL is an asset
  • Working knowledge of statistics is an asset
  • Excellent analytical/modeling and communication skills
  • As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, a valid US Driver's License is required
  • Ability to work independently and cohesively in a team
  • Strong computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office application including advanced knowledge of MS Excel required
  • Demonstrates competency in driving for results, communicating effectively, and working collaboratively
  • Previous experience is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Spotfire, R, Tableau, SharePoint, databases, and information systems is preferred
  • Attention to detail, superior organizational skills, critical thinking skills, combined with the ability to multi-task required
  • Ability to work in a fast pace and timeline driven environment
  • Previous experience with LP modeling would be an asset
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship for this role will not be provided


Education


  • Attached copies of transcripts
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the scheduled semester
  • Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
  • Preference will be given to students in 3rd or 4th year
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or related discipline
  • Strong academic performance


Working Conditions


  • May include frequency of sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.


Safety Sensitive


  • This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Cenovus pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.


Relocation


Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.


Note: Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.
