Overview

Responsible for creating overhead and underground electrical distribution drawings. This position is expected to function under minimal supervision. This position is responsible for understanding and completing drawings in accordance with client standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Produce "As Built" drawings
• Inspect electrical panels/enclosures with department drawings
• Create Bill of Materials for all electrical components and release to purchasing
• Design distribution projects with neatness and a small margin for error utilizing software such as PLS-CADD, O-Calc, Pull Planner, and AutoCAD
• Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project manager, client, and other stakeholders as needed
• Perform field evaluation of proposed installation sites as required
• Conduct electrical design review meetings and provide minutes
• Interface with project management and project engineers during the design phase
• Support manufacturing with fabrication drawings and other related information as required
• Perform complex detailed design of overhead and/or underground electric distribution systems, including the preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates

Qualifications

• Must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor
• Ability to read and understand One-Line Diagrams
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with minimal supervision
• Experience with SDG&E standards and processes preferred
• Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills are required
• Experience designing with AutoCAD and or PLS-CADD
• Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time
• Must be able to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate designs with drafters and other disciplines cross-functionally
• Basic communication skills both written and oral are expected
• Basic knowledge of Electrical Distribution Systems.
• Minimum 1 year of utility distribution design experience with utility or consulting engineering firm
• Experience with pull calculations, demand estimating, and volt/drop and flicker calculations
• Knowledge of GO95 & GO128
• Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under stress and meet tight deadlines.
• Prefer 1-2 years of experience field noting and electrical distribution drafting / design work
• Associates degree or relevant experience
• Excellent organizational skills combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Wage Data Per State Requirements

Salary range for this position is $75,000 - 100,000. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, experience, and working environment.
