JOB OBJECTIVE: The Educational Tutor, under the direction of the After School Coordinator, is a part-time position that will provide homework assistance and small group instruction to students participating in the agency All-Aboard After School Program. The Education Tutor will be responsible for assisting the After School Coordinator with lesson planning, the implementation of the planned lesson and assessing student programs.

LOCATION: Comstock Elementary, Miami, FL

Functions

• Provide supervision over the classrooms
• Conduct physical fitness, literacy, and arts/crafts activities
• Provide homework assistant and small group instruction
• Use and create hands-on activities to strengthen student progress and performance
• Assist with preparing individual lesson plans and activities to enhance student progress
• Support a nurturing, positive and safe learning environment
• Oversees snack time
• Take daily attendance

HOURS PER WEEK: Non-Exempt

• Part-Time; M-F 1:30pm - 5:30pm
• Must be flexible to meet program needs

Required Experience

• High school diploma required
• Ability to travel to all agency locations
• Excellent communication and organizational skills and ability to work in a flexible team environment
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to handle unexpected situations and direct contact with children
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form
