Job Description

EDUCATION CENTER LEAD


Role Summary

We're looking for someone to lead an important role in the organization. This leader will help the organization lead the education community on conversations and educational solutions that make an impact on poverty determinants in the realm of education. This executive role is the director level position for the education center, one of four centers at Medici Road. This leader will ensure racial equity is embedded in the work we do internally and externally. This position will lead our approach on educational impact, human-centered design and the other three pillars of our work. In order to succeed, this candidate should feel comfortable taking on a range of responsibilities including hiring and training, implementing programs, soliciting opportunities to obtain local, federal government RFPs as well as private sector clients, and acting as a leader for the organization.

Medici Road is a nonprofit, community development corporation that addresses the intersection of poverty and race. Our mission is to reduce poverty by creating education, housing, and public health solutions that uproot systemic racial inequities.

We serve and advocate for low-and middle-income urban communities, especially people of color and other historically underserved groups.

About the Education Center

Our goal is to create healthy, whole-child development in every community. We develop products and help create policies that focus on impactful, student-centered education systems that are supported by both teachers and administrators.


Qualifications

You're a great fit for this role if you:

• Are a Education professional who wants to see a new narrative on solving for poverty reduction with education

• Have a strong interest, and track record, in bucking the system for a greater good

• Have a history of cultivating and managing education consulting and faculty development client relationships as part of a strategic business model

• 8+ years of management/director level experience (ideally 2+ years leading a division)

• 3+ years of coaching /facilitation experience in the education field

• 5+ years working in local/state/federal government, philanthropy, advocacy, or a community-based nonprofit focused


Primary Responsibilities


Leadership and collaboration -60%

• Leadership of the Education Center, including management of the Program(s) under the center and building out your team (policy, evaluation, and data analysis backgrounds) as applicable.

• Lead strategic planning and innovation for Medici Road’s Education work (includes annual budgets and strategic planning)

• Collaborate and be a thought partner to the Program Director for YouthBuild, the Data Analyst, programs, data presentations, and products, completing quarterly reports for YouthBuild, and other grants operating in the education center,

• Foster connections and collaboration across the Medici Road team, ensuring REI is centered in all our work


Fundraising for the Center - 30%

• Cultivate new and existing client relationships to partner with Medici Road and purchase Educational consulting, and products

• Develop and implement a business model for Educational products

• Oversee performance management, reporting, invoicing, and other financial transactions with clients


Facilitating conversations - 10%

• Support internal “What could be” conversations to foster innovation

• Publish quarterly content, including blog posts, data visualization, and reports

• Engage in thought leadership conversations across multiple mediums


At the end of your first year success would look like: you've launched our Education center signature product, you've secured 3+ contracts and/or grants, and you've supported the Youthbuild director in processes for successful grant renewal.


Supervisory Responsibility: You will have the Data Analyst, the YouthBuild Program Director as immediate direct reports. You will also be responsible for managing other hires in the Education Center when that time arises.
