General Summary Of Job Duties


As a Line Cook you will be supporting Duke’s Steakhouse by preparing customer orders in a timely and efficient manner.


Essential Job Function And Duties


  • Practice proper knife handling skills.
  • Keep work stations always clean during service time.
  • Prepare and produce menu items to standards in a quick and efficient manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure kitchen and Health Department sanitation requirements are always maintained .
  • Be responsible for quality and proportion size.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor during all interactions with guest, fellow team members, and vendors.
  • Practice proper food handling.
  • Work at least one station, maintaining the highest quality in finished product.
  • Ensure that the quality and presentation of food products meets company standards.
  • Use and apply proper kitchen safety procedures and basic cooking skills.
  • Perform all duties to company standards and policies.
  • Properly wrap, label, date and store all food items in their proper areas.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Management.
  • Ability to accept performance feedback in a professional manner.
  • Arrive on time and regular attendance to all scheduled shifts is considered an essential function of the job.
  • Ensure that no food leaves the kitchen without a ticket, including manager’s meals.
  • Be responsible for preparing menu items as directed by the recipes provided by the Room Chef and /or Executive Chef.
  • Disinfect and sanitize cutting boards and worktables.

Skills, Education And Other Requirements


  • Must have 3 to 5 years in a fast paced kitchen, planning and preparing.
  • Ability to maintain clean personal hygiene.
  • Must present a well-groomed appearance.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have the ability to successfully interact with other team members and management.
  • Must have job related tools.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondary smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Ability to successfully work in fast paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, with variable overtime.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to maintain composure in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Knowledge of Asian dishes is a plus.
  • High School Diploma and/or GED preferred
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
